What is Investment Casting?

Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is a manufacturing process used to create intricate metal components. This technique uses wax patterns, which are coated with refractory material to form molds. Once molten metal is poured into the molds, the wax is melted away, leaving precise components with excellent surface finishes and dimensional accuracy. Investment casting is ideal for intricate parts with tight tolerances and is widely applied in aerospace, medical, and industrial applications.

Investment Casting FAQ
What is investment casting?
Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is a precision casting process where a wax model is coated with a ceramic shell. Once hardened, the wax is melted out, leaving a mold that is filled with molten metal. This process produces highly detailed and complex parts with exceptional accuracy and surface finish.
What materials can be used in investment casting?
Investment casting supports a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloys, and more. This versatility makes it suitable for various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and medical.
