What Procss for Sand Casting?

- Pattern Making: A model (pattern) of the desired part is created using wood, metal, or plastic.
- Mold Preparation: Sand mixed with a binder (e.g., clay or resin) is packed around the pattern to form the mold. Cores may be added for hollow sections.
- Melting and Pouring: Molten metal is melted in a furnace and poured into the sand mold.
- Cooling: The metal cools and solidifies in the mold, taking the shape of the cavity.
- Shakeout: The mold is broken to retrieve the solidified casting.
- Cleaning and Finishing: The casting is cleaned, excess material is removed, and final finishing (e.g., machining) is performed as needed.

Iron Casting FAQ
What is ductile iron?
Ductile iron, also known as nodular cast iron, is a type of cast iron known for its high strength, toughness, and ductility. The spherical graphite structure gives it enhanced mechanical properties compared to traditional cast iron, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications.
What are the advantages of ductile iron?
Ductile iron offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and fatigue strength. It is highly machinable and versatile, making it a preferred material for automotive components, construction machinery, and industrial equipment.
Can ductile iron be customized for specific applications?
Yes, ductile iron can be tailored to meet specific needs by adjusting its composition and heat treatment processes. This enables its use in diverse industries, from automotive parts like suspension components to structural supports in construction and power generation systems.
